Author Description
Chuck Patton is an Emmy award winning animation producer/director, art director, storyboard artist, and veteran comic book artist. He is known for his dynamic storytelling, drawing skills, and almost encyclopedic knowledge of cinema between his ears.
A self-taught comics artist, but with a degree in art, Patton's influences included José Luis García-López, John Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, and Dick Giordano. He was enticed into a comics career thanks to Giordano, by then a top executive at DC Conics. Patton entered the comics industry by penciling a brief run of The Creeper back-up stories in The Flash series. Later he became best known for his work on DCs' premiere super hero book, Justice League of America, specifically when the team relocated to Patton's hometown of Detroit, Michigan. His other comic work included issues of Teen Titans, Vigilante, X-Men Classic, The Brave and the Bold, Daredevil, DNA Agents and Blue Beetle.
After half a decade in the comics industry, Patton moved to Los Angeles and started a second career designing and developing then storyboarding, and eventually directing animated television shows.
His successful list of credits as a director include, Kulipari: Dream Walker, Dead Space Downfall, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, NFL Rush Zone Season of the Guardians, Lucasart's Defenders of Dynatron City, Kong the animated series, Ultimate Book of Spells, Double Dragon, Swamp Thing, GI Joe, Wish Kid, Captain N, the Emmy nominated Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas and Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, which won the Prime time Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program.
Two of the JLA characters that Patton co-created with writer Gerry Conway were adapted onto the hit live action Flash tv series on the CW.
