Author Description Although she was born in Ireland and lived and worked in many parts of the world, it was her close association with New Guinea for which Beatrice Grimshaw (1871-1953) is best remembered.<br /><br />She was the first European woman to ascend the Fly and Sepik Rivers and many of her books are set in New Guinea or the Pacific.
